Since I started my journey in May, I need to catch you up on my hair progress. In 2008 I cut my hair really short. I call it the early 90's Halle Berry hairdo. I loved it. It was so easy to take care of. But after 4 months I wanted my shoulder length hair back and I put a glue weave in. You know how we ladies can be. We cut it then weave it. I know I needed a spanking. The weave was cute but it was severely damaging my hair. I was tired of gluing in weave and tired of looking at the damage when I took the weave out. So I put the weave and glue to the side and I attempted to grow out my hair. I learned my hair is constantly growing but because of my dry hair it was breaking faster than growing. I incorporated moisturizing and sealing, protein, protective styling, and the right hair products.
The best way for me to document my hair progress is to take pictures and journal what product I am using at the time; also the effects of the products on my hair and skin. Below is a picture of my hair on May 13, 2009. Just look at it. I'm soooo embarrassed. I'll get over it. It's damaged and thin at the ends. In other words, "broke-down, busted and disgusted." LOL! At this point I am 9 weeks post relaxer.
After incorporating new hair care techniques I was able to accomplish some good results. It wasn't drastic results but I think you can see from the picture that I did make progress and heading in the right direction. Below is a picture taken on July 21, 2009 and I am 9 weeks post relaxer. I hope you can see it much better. I obtained some length and my ends have filled in. I feel like I had a victory with my hair progress!
