I am going to update part of my
hair care regimen. The part I will be updating is washing/cleansing process. Some people wash their hair one time a week or even every two weeks; and that works for them. It didnt for me. A few years ago, even before I was interested in growing my hair long; I realized that washing and deep conditioning my hair increased the health of my hair. It also aided in retention of hair growth. This year I learned that sulfates are not the best cleansers for my hair. Sulfates caused my hair to be tangled and dry. If you google sulfate, there will be plenty of information advising that sulfates are harsh cheap detergents that strip away needed moisture. Which caused me much matting and tangling and loss of wanted hair during the untangling process.
Washing my hair more often has benefited me in these areas:
- Gives me the opportunity to massage my hair. Massaging increases hair growth.
- Unclog pores of dirt and oil. Unclogged pores will allow your hair to grow to its potential.
- Very moisturizing. There's isn't any moisturizer better than water.
So for now I will be conditioner washing my hair on two times a week. Most likely every Tuesday and Thursday. Shampooing my hair with a non-sulfate shampoo on Saturdays. I will keep the rest of my regimen the same for now. I will be using a sulfate shampoo to clarify my hair every four weeks.
