Super soft brushes from Ecotools

ecotools new brushes
If you're a fan of mineral makeup, you know that it's super important to try brushes that are soft on your face. But for any face makeup you use, whether it is eyeshadow, blush, or eyeliner, there's an EcoTools brush you can use to apply your makeup. Through recommendations from friends, I knew I had to try EcoTools! They're readily available at drugstores at quite affordable prices - between $6-$10.

Tidbit: My first EcoTools product ever used was their cellulose sponges to exfoliate my face.
Have you tried their EcoTools Cosmetic bags by Alicia Silverstone ?

ecotools kabuki brushes review
For the past couple of months EcoTools have come out with new products, including the Finishing Kabuki Brush and the Retractable Foundation Brush, which were sent to me for review consideration. The Finishing Kabuki is a super light brush used to sweep finishing powder or a light bronzer all-over the face. It reminds me a of stippling brush but a much wider one. See below for brush density comparison.

The Retractable Foundation Brush is a lot skinnier than I thought it would be. However, I found this tapered brush perfect for applying concealer undereye- not meant for precision though. I also like this brush when I use my mineral-based liquid foundation to conceal redness on the side of my nose. This is good for particular areas of my face because I prefer the kabuki brush below for applying foundation overall. :) The packaging is also very handy for travel.
This retractable kabuki brush is another amazing and super dense brush! Retractable brushes are great for on-the-go and touchups throughout the day. This brush is super soft and great for applying mineral makeup all over the face. (This was in my goodie bag from the Yagolicious Beauty Affair event in December.)

:) I can't stress how important it is to have soft bristles for your facial brushes. You don't want anything harsh on your skin that could potentially leave scratches on your face, that you can't even see.

See how all three brushes compare? They all have different uses so I can't even rank which one is my favorite. I probably use the retractable kabuki the most because it gives the best overall coverage- quick!

By the way, I loved these EcoTools brushes so much that I bought their Bamboo 6 piece Eye Brush Set. I already have a lot of eyebrushes, but I thought this would be great for traveling because it has a mirror and a storage case to carry 6 brushes! CUTE!! LOVE THIS!!

(Disclaimer: I received 2 products from this company's PR agency to test, try and share my thoughts with my readers. Read blog for details.)

There's a current special for Everyday Minerals! Although they do not specify when the special will end, they always update and add new specials periodically. With any order over $21, you will get 3 eyeshadow samples.

Note: August 1, EDM will have NEW products coming out. They already gave us a sneak peek and unveiled their flat-top retractable blush yesterday. So excited!!

I was hoping to see their new Shady Stroll eye palette and new blush colors but these colors won't be available till later this month or the fall.

e.l.f. Brushes Haul

So after getting all those emails (See e.l.f. marketing campaign and recently, 75% off e.l.f. minerals) I had to show you my e.l.f. haul.

I bought several brushes, duplicates of some, because I knew they were going to useful and of good quality. I sometimes have to use 3-4 different eye brushes to create a dramatic look (using blending and contrasting techniques.)

I got my package fairly quickly, in about a week or less, and it came in a very economically packaged box. I only received about 2 large sheets of paper as a filler, as you can see below. All my purchases came in a nice plastic bag with the words e.l.f. eyes lips face on it.

Here is an up close view of the many brushes that I bought. :) I pretty much bought brushes, eyeshadow applicators and a travel sized mirror. I bought eyeshadow brushes, defining eye brushes, blending brushes, angled blushing/bronzing/blending brushes and the total face brushes (the biggest of their brushes.)

I was so happy and overwhelmed with my purchase! I immediately opened three of the brushes to check out the bristles for the eyeshadow brush, blending brush, and the blushing/bronzing/blending brushes (pictured below).

I have to say that they are absolutely amazing! The eyeshadow brush has a nice rounded c-shaped tip and is wider than a lot of eyeshadow brushes that I have seen and have. Although the cutting and shape of one brush looked different than another eyeshadow brush, they are both similar and have really soft bristles. I even tried to stab it on my hand to see if any of the hairs would prick, but it did not hurt.

I really like these brushes because they can pack a lot of shadow within the brush. I have used these two eye brushes with my Jane Aguaceuticals eyeshadow set, and works wonderfully. I already have brushes from Bare Minerals (from their starter kits) and I must say that they work just as well. (Read reviews for the Eye shadow brush here)

The blushing/bronzing/blending brush, also shown in the above picture, is also very soft. It has some red hairs but overall, it works well as a blending brush. I use my other brushes to first apply my powder makeup and then I use this brush for any retouching and blending. (Read other reviews here)
