Hello Divas!
I hope you are having a beautiful day! Life is a blessing!
The last quarter of the year I begin to experience a lot of acne breakouts on my face. I knew it was stress, but I was kind of frustrated and at lost on how to get rid of it. I had not had any acne breakouts in quite some time, so I really did not have anything in my beauty arsenal to combat it.
Well I found Clean & Clear Continuous Control Acne cleanser and it has been a life saver. I have used it for a month. After about two weeks of use, I stopped having breakouts. Woot! This cleanser contains 10% benzoyl peroxide. It has a creamy texture and I use it with my Clarisonic. But be careful. If it gets in your eyes or mouth, it burns and irritates like crazy. I learned the hard way. However, it does not dry out my skin like other benzoyl peroxide cleansers have the tendency to do.
This cleanser gets rid of pimples in a short period of time, is moisturizing and non irritating to my skin. That is why it is my Hot Drugstore Find of The Week! Clean & Clear Continuous Control Acne cleanser retails for $6.49 and you can purchase it at CVS.

Day 14: The Perricone Presciption
Hello Divas!
Holidays are about spending time with the ones you love. So don't stress and just enjoy it!
Chamele is finishing off her 30 Days of Luxetips! Enjoy!
Ever since reading the "Perricone Prescription" six years ago, I have been aware of the role inflammation plays in aging. While I have had some trouble cutting back on those sugars, I have been experimenting with products that help prevent and erase the damage I have done. Thanks to Dr. P., I became familiar with Ester C, which is twice as beneficial as Vitamin C. Dr. Perricone's meticulous study of vitamin C and its properties fighting inflammation had me hooked. I then began to familiarize myself with the Perricone line.
This year, Dr. Perricone has introduced a new line of products called "Super by Dr. Nicholas Perricone" This line contains super foods including apples, acai, ginger and yogurt. I am eager to try all of the products, but particularly the four listed below.
This time of year, the weather can strip our skin of oils and leave the skin looking lack luster. Trust me. I know. I love facials and I love ginger so I am especially excited about the Super 3-Minute Facial with Ginger. It is a fast facial that leaves the skin hydrated. $50.00 for a 2 oz serving.
Next up, is the Super Acne Treatment with Green Apple. Even though I am aging, I am still experiencing periodic breakouts. The Super Acne Treatment exfoliates and fights acne with salicylic acid. I am all too familiar with salicylic acid. It is a life saver. The Super Acne Treatment also contains quercetin, a natural antioxidant. I had recently been trying out some new products with quercetin and noticed a huge improvement in my laugh lines. I am uber-excited about the Super Acne Treatment because it will simultaneously fight acne and aging. Multifunctional products are where it's at! $50.00 for a 1 oz serving of the Super Acne Treatment with Green Apple.
I also want to try the Super Hand & Cuticle Cream with Yogurt. The cream claims to heal and soften hands and cuticle by stimulating collagen production with yogurt probiotics. If you are not familiar with probiotics you should be! It is no secret that some of the worlds most beautiful queens, for instance Cleopatra, bathed themselves in milk. Why? The bacteria of course. This is probably the best time of year to indulge your hands, and I trust that Dr. Perricone has engaged in a thorough study making his products most effective. $30.00 for a 2 oz serving.
Finally, I plan on indulging my soup coolers with the Super Lush Lips with Coconut Oil . Yummy! The name alone makes me want to wear it. But the delectable coconut oil it contains is a huge source of vitamin E. Vitamin E plays an important role in healing, and the Super Lush Lips purports to "nourish, quench, and shine lips." $20.00 for a 0.5 oz serving.
All products are free of parabens, phthalates, sulfates, synthetic fragrances, synthetic dyes and petrochemicals. I know the prices seem steep but trust me, a little goes a long way with the Perricone products. It doesn't take much to save your skin; and besides, you are an investment! All products are available exclusively at Sephora.
Until tomorrow,
Chamele
REVIEW: Cane + Austin Retexturizing Treatment Pads

Could these clinical percentages be true? 100% increase in luminosity, 91% of panelists experienced reduced pore size, 87% noticed reduction in appearance of wrinkles and saw improvement in skin firmness, 70% saw dramatic reduction in skin discoloration and age spots! Really?
Yes, really!
I've not seen a product come along with these kinds of claims in clinicals in a long, long time. The simple truth is, the product does what it says. As such, it seems fitting to begin my review of Cane + Austin Retexturizing Treatment Pads with the oomph of that backing - the clinical trial percentages.
CANE - as in sugar cane.
This is the source of Cane + Austin's pure, proven powerhouse ingredient: Glycolic Acid.
Known as the superstar of the AHA’s, Glycolic Acid is derived directly from sugar cane, and has the smallest molecular size (of any AHA) which enables it to work effectively both as an exfoliator and moisturizer.
Glycolic Acid goes under the damaged upper layers of skin and destroys the 'glue' which holds dead skin to the surface, removing the dead skin cells that clog pores, resulting in increased cellular turnover, a smoother more radiant complexion and overall a more youthful appearance.
Glycolic Acid yields a smoother, younger complexion, that is soft and dewey with fewer lines and wrinkles, reduced pore size, improved tone and texture and is clinically-proven to correct hyper-pigmentation and discoloration, effective in reversing sun and free-radical damage.
AUSTIN - as in Dr. Austin.
As both a dermatologist and dermatopathologist, Craig Austin, MD has set himself apart from many physicians in the field with a unique hybrid approach utilizing advanced clinical treatments, histopathology (the microscopic study of diseased tissue and cellular strcuture) with hands-on patient care.
With over 20 years experience, Dr. Austin is a leader in his field, sought out by both patients and physcians for his expertise and innovative approach to treatment. His overall philosophy is founded on the premise of uncomplicated, straightforward proven practices that promote a lifetime of naturally healthy, beautiful skin. He is an avid proponent of the use of glycolic acid to rejuvenate and correct a host of skin concerns. Dr. Austin is Associate Clinical Professor of Dermatology and Dermatopathology at two major dermatology programs in New York City: Mt. Sinai Medical School and St. Barabas Dermatology Residency Program. he has three offices in the New York area: Manhattan, Southampton and Dutchess County.
Ok, so we now know Dr. Austin probably knows his stuff. (And, by the way, this isn't Dr. Austin's first foray into a skincare line; he's also the derm behind AB Skincare.) We've many times over been schooled in the goodness of glycolic acid (haven't you been reading For the Love of Beauty?). But, do the pads really live up to the hype?
L-R: Sun Spot Before and Sun Spot After 2 Weeks Use with Pads
Indeed they do!
I've been using the 10% Glycolic pads for two weeks now and am very pleased with the results. My forehead lines are less pronounced which is also a grand phenom, but I tell you, the result that has me singing Zippity Do-Da is the improvement in sun spot discoloration on my cheeks. 'Tis a funny tale (not really). I was in the car with my daughter the other day shopping for homecoming dresses, pulled down the sun visor to block the sun, got a glimpse of my cheek in the visor mirror, and, Holy Cow, saw a dime-sized sun spot on the left side of my face between my cheekbone and chin! Where the hell did that gremlin come from? And why hadn't I noticed it before?
It was that very night that I began using Cane + Austin Retexturizing Pads, with the specific hope of lightening that fella on my face. It's working! And not only is my face more even, more luminous, and less wrinkled in appearance, the texture is much improved as well - pore size minimized, skin is firmer, more plumped and youthful in appearance. I like!
Cane + Austin Retexturizing Treatment Pads not only contain 10% glycolic acid (the purest pharmaceutical grade available), they also include liposomal vitamins A, C, E, CoQ10 and antioxidants to protect skin from free radical damage. This is a ONE STEP at-home treatment that exfoliates and retexturizes, while helping to rebuild collagen. Witch Hazel helps to visibly tone and tighten skin. I noticed a slight tingle on application the first few days I used them, but nothing intolerable or irritating. I think it is fair to say you can FEEL the power in the pads, which I believe to be a good thing!
I'm so impressed with these I have my son using the Cane + Austin Acne Treatment Pads now. This version contains 5% Glycolic Acid and 2% Salicylic Acid with a powerful blend of liposomal vitamins A, C, E, CoQ10 and antiosidants to help gently exfoliate, assist in increasing cellular turnover, treat blemishes and blackheads, protect the skin from free radical damage, all while allowing skin to heal. Those clinicals boast an impressive 100% effective result (as noted by panelists) in decreasing blemishes. We'll see how the pads work for him.
So where can you get them? Cane + Austin Retexturizing Glycolic Treatment Pads and Acne Treatment Pads both retail for approximately $60 a jar (a 30 day supply) and are available at SpaceNK, Nordstrom, DERMAdoctor and Cane + Austin online.

Clinique's Even Better Skin Tone Corrector: A Life Saver!
Hello Divas!
I hope everyone is having an awesome day!
If you have been reading my blog, you know that I have been experiencing extremely severe breakouts. Too much stress in my life! I am working on removing all negative elements in my life, so hopefully the breakouts will cease.
During my breakouts, my skin was scarring pretty bad from the acne. I know I needed a skin tone corrector or lightening cream to get rid of the scarring.
While reading Shake Your Beauty, one of my favorite blogs, Ms. Tia raved about Clinique's Even Better Skin Tone Corrector with SPF 20. She too was experiencing breakouts and she said this cream evened her skin tone in 4 weeks! Nice!
I knew I had some Clinique samples in my beauty arsenal, so I searched and found the Even Better Skin Tone Corrector. Now this version does not include SPF 20, but I was eager to give it a try. I am happy to report that after 5 weeks of use, my dark marks are almost gone! This cream really really works. Now I am used to using Retinol cream which works within 14 days, but this cream does the job slowly but beautifully over time. Since I have been using this cream, I have not experienced any breakouts and my skin is so very smooth! Love it! My skin tone is brighter, my skin's texture has improved, and it is more even. What is there not to like?
Unfortunately, I just ran out of the sample, so I am running to the mall tomorrow to purchase an one ounce bottle of Even Better Skin Tone Corrector. It retails for $39.50. If you spend $25 or more at any Nordstrom's or Bloomingdales you will receive a free gift with purchase!

Hot Drugstore Find of the Week: Neutrogena® Oil-Free Acne Wash
Hello Divas!
I tell you! My life has been one big roller coaster ride for the past month. My plate is full and I need a mental break from everything! LOL! I hope your life is more peaceful and calm!
Divas, my skin is going through an ugly phase. I have been having the WORST ever breakouts for the past 2 months. I have been trying to alleviate the problem on my own, but I think I have to call in the professionals...a Dermatologist.
I have an excellent one in Boca Raton, FL but a trip to Florida is not a possibility in the near future. In the interim, I have discovered Neutrogena® Oil-Free Acne Wash. I usually do not use facial washes with Salicylic Acid because they tend to dry out my skin. But desperate times call for desperate measures and I had to give it a try. What I love about this facial wash is that although it contains Salicylic Acid, it does not dry out or irritate your skin. It also leaves me skin feeling super clean and it controls the oil production. Since I have been using this wash, my acne has calmed down a wee bit, so I am pleased! A six ounce bottle of Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash retails for $6.29 and you can purchase it at CVS.
