Physicians Formula New Drugstore Products Part 2- Shimmer Strips & Eyeliner Trio

I checked out RiteAid recently and was psyched to see more NEW Physicians Formula products hit the shelves. There were the Talc-Free Mineral Wear products (perhaps this is replacing the OrganicsWear?) and the Shimmer Strips eyeshadows and eyeliners trio! I only had $15 in my pocket so I treated myself the eyeliners trio.. funny thing is I already have the same colors in a gel eyeliner-form, but I really wanted to try these anyway.




On top, are the Shimmer Strips Custom Eye Enhancing Shadows & Liners palettes for Blue and Hazel eyes. The packaging looks new with a cute "Eye Candy" on the lower right hand corner but I don't see anything new about the actual colors. I don't have old shimmer strips eyeshadows since I already have tons of eye shadows.

On the bottom are the Enhance & Define Eyeliner Trios! There was only one left for the Brown Eyes, which I snatched right away, because I love purple! The others have the same matching pencil color for the same eye color for Blue & Green and a pink eyeliner for Hazel eyes. They all have the Black eyeliner and a neutral one too. For about $11-12, you get three eyeliners that are advertised to last for "24 hours," it's a nice deal. They glide pretty smoothly but I will test these out this week to see how long they actually last..

Physicians Formula New Drugstore Products Part 1- Happy Booster & Jumbo Lash Mascara

Physicians Formula is one of my favorite drugstore brands, especially their OrganicWear line. (However, it looks like they are discontinuing it or something because I don't see it on their website.) I was excited to see at my local drugstore some new products- their Happy Booster blush/bronzer/powder and Organic Wear Jumbo Lash mascara.

First, the Happy Booster palettes are perfect for upcoming Valentine's Day! The hearts are so cute and they are infused with plant extracts that are supposed to make you in a "Happy mood." I didn't try this but thought the concept was cute. The translucent shade is probably my favorite because it looks the most natural. The blush is rosy and the different color combos are great when blended together for a natural finish. The packaging still doesn't look that great and the brush looks scratchy like the OrganicWear powders. I prefer my super soft brushes from EcoTools. :)

I saw the Jumbo Lash mascaras and immediately picked one up. Why? Because it had the "TRY ME FREE" label and they work! I have already tried their OrganicWear mascara (Free after rebate too) when it first came out in Spring 2009, so I was excited to see this Jumbo Lash update- same formula (I hope) but larger wand!! Review: Physicians Formula Eye Makeup remover pads

On a recent trip to Target in Chicago, I saw these Physician Formula Eye Makeup Remover pads in this easy to travel packaging. They used to offer these in a hard-case jar but they must have figured it's much more eco-friendly and convenient to just reduce the packaging and use these instead. Overall, I thought they were okay. It removed my mascara and eyeshadows but it did not remove my eyeliner! I was wearing an organic eyeliner too, so I was surprised it didn't take this off. I scrubbed for a bit, as gently as I could, with these pads but it didn't budge. Oh well.. I probably won't repurchase but it's good for travel.

Physicians Formula- Shimmer in the City event on May 27

Attention all New York City beauties! This Thursday May 27, Physicians Formula will be at specific hotspots in NYC to give out coupons, freebies, info on their Bronzer products. Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips Gel CreamLiner

Last month, when I reported Physician Formula came out with their new Shimmer Strip collection products, I searched high and low to get my hands on these products! I knew where the Eye Enhancing Mascara Duo was (the same drugstore where I found out about these products of course!)




It was the Get Cream Liners that I couldn't find. I went to several drugstores to find it and finally found it at a local drugstore. I was inspired by the review by Nouveau Cheap who raved about the product and since I have never tried gel eyeliners before, I thought I would try it out with Physicians Formula.



So when I saw there was one LAST package for brown eyes, I knew it was meant to be. Look how gorgeous the three colors are!!! Purple really makes brown eyes pop! :)

The packaging of the gel eyeliners looks a bit off to me- too plastic-y maybe? I guess I am more used to Physicians Formula using the organic-wear packaging. So, the bulky plastic did not look attractive at all. However, since the three eyeliners do snap in place together, I can understand why it has to be box-y.

I also recently found out via Twitter that Physicians Formula had a Tweet-Up to introduce their new products to influential beauty insiders- magazines, bloggers, celebrities. They even got some goodies- lucky!!!

Drugstore Pictures of New Products

Hey readers! Sorry I have been a bit MIA this month- at least it feels like I have not been contributing as much as I would like to. I blame it on the bad weather. :) However, It doesn't mean I haven't been on the hunt to find good content for you guys! In fact, it has my been personal quest to visit drugstores more frequently to see what new products are out there.

Wet N' Wild- Their new Color Icon line includes (from top to bottom) trio eyeshadows,6 eyeshadow palettes in shimmer and matte shades, lipsticks, and nail polishes. (Not shown here are the single eyeshadows) All products range from about $1.99 to $4.99 at this store.

Piggy Paint! Cute, adorable nailpolishes in basic colors. It's something a tween would use, but these products do not contain any toxic chemicals and is water-based. This drugstore did not list the price, but I found online they cost about $9!! Quite expensive, especially if I can get OPI bottle for that amount.. Check out the Flower Collection OPI by Sephora for Spring. :)

Physicians Formula Bamboo Wear

This Spring, Physicians Formula debuts their Bamboo Wear collection. (Check out the Shimmer Strips collection here.)

The Bamboo Wear makeup and accessories line includes refillable powders in a sustainable Bamboo compact case with mirror and brush. There is also a huge kabuki brush (they call it Bambuki, hehe.) Although this line is a bit limited- it's just the basics- the concept is great. Instead of buying new products with new cases all the time, why not just buy the refillables and REUSE the compact?

My local drugstore is carrying these products, so I had to check them out. They are offering the cases for Free (with rebate), so hurry now to get yours!

My thoughts- First, this compact case is definitely based on their OrganicWear compacts concept (using 93% less plastic than traditional compacts). Also designed to eliminate waste, this is made of bamboo instead and more sturdy for reuse. They also improved the brushes- this one is softer and not as scratchy.

Dilemma- Looking at the ingredients of the powder and bronzer refills, I am a bit disappointed. I suppose I am used to the OrganicWear products which are 100% free of harsh chemicals and all that good stuff, so I'm biased. So, my solution would be to use the powders from the OrganicWear line, but that would be wasting the compact that already comes with it. So, what to do?

Physicians Formula... if you're reading this, please make refills of your OrganicWear line for the Bamboo Wear case, please!

Overall- I like the concept of refillables for this line, but would really like to see the powders be organic! For now, I am the happy owner of the compact and will keep looking out for more Physicians Formulas products!

Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips collection

I dropped by my local drugstore and saw something new from Physicians Formula. They have some great stuff coming out- and I can't wait to get my hands on them! The Shimmer Strips collection include custom colors made specifically for YOUR eye color! How awesome is that?

I saw their Shimmer Strips Custom Eye Enhancing Mascara Duo- one side is a dark,black color and the other side is a colorful, playful color for a dramatic look! Depending on your eye color, you choose which mascara works for you. (Blue eyes- blue mascara, Green eyes-green mascara, Hazel- light purple, Brown- dark purple.) Unfortunately for me, my color was not available, but I wouldn't mind picking up another color just for fun!

Product Review: Physicians Formula Organic wear Facial Makeup Remover Towelettes

On my way to get the World of Grains cookies, I stopped by the CVS to see what new products were in store. I was super ecstatic to see the Physicians Formula OrganicWear make-up removers at my local CVS store. This store in particular always has the newest products, and it is where I found the Carmindy Natural Beauty line too.

They had all four kinds of the Physicians Formula Organic wear makeup remover available and before most purchases, I make sure that the items are properly sealed. I made the mistake of purchasing a Maybelline eyeshadow palette from a drugstore that was opened because the two mini brushes were missing. After that, I always double check that the product has not been tampered with especially since these will be going on my face I was curious to see how the eye make-up remover pads and the face towelettes were sealed. The two that I opened did not seem to have any seals on them, so I was wary that people might've contaminated them. I opened another of the face towelettes jar and it had the seal, so I bought that one.

My review- The packaging made the product easy to use. It reminds me of a Clorox wipes jar, so you just pull a towelette out from the top lid one at a time. The sheet itself is normal sized- enough to cover your face and wipe all the makeup clean. It is rather thin,though, like a sheet or two of paper but that doesn't bother me. To use- At first swipe, it took off my blush and I could see that a distinct rosy pink on the towelette. I next wiped my forehead, chin, etc., and I could see my face makeup color on there as well. So, it definitely works. Even though this towelette is recommended to be used for face makeup, I decided to do a quick test on my eye makeup. I gently pressed the towel on my eyelid and it picked up a lot of my mineral eye shadow. I just finished removing my mascara, eyeliner, and shadows with baby oil.

The result- A clean and happy face! The natural product did not irritate my sensitive skin and my face felt toned afterward.

Physicians Formula Organic wear® Makeup Removers

Physicians Formula has a new product for their Organic wear® line- Makeup Removers. They are offering the makeup removers in 4 different formulas- cotton pads, liquid, towelettes and lotion. I personally like to use baby oil to remove my eye makeup and my usual face wash with a cellulose sponge to get rid of any face makeup. Their new offerings seem great to use and I can't seem to choose just one. :)

What I like most about the Organic wear® line is that it is true to its advertising- "Hypoallergenic. 100% Free of Harsh Chemicals. 100% Free of Synthetic Preservatives. 100% Free of Parabens. 100% Free of GMO's. 100% Free of Synthetic Colors. 100% Free of Synthetic Fragrances. 100% Cruelty Free." I have found their other products to be pretty good, in terms of its staying power, considering it is using non-chemicals.

According to their site, the Makeup Removers are formulated with "Eco-Aroma Therapy™ to condition and soothe: OrganiSoy® to moisturize and help nourish lashes; Eco-Olive®, natural antioxidant, to help shield lashes from harsh environmental aggressors; Organic Orange Water to help nourish and restore delicate skin's moisture balance; Organic Lavender Essential Oil, sweet, natural scent for a calming effect."

I noticed that the lotion contains Organic Jojoba Seed Oil and Vitamin E to "moisturize and help protect skin." I've heard great things about using Jojoba oil for your face.

I tried this mascara and I have to say that I am in love with this! I wear this for more than 14 hours (my schedule is so hectic now with long days/nights) and by the time I come home, I only see a speck of the mascara under my eyes. I am so impressed that this product lasts so long- I usually see a smeared line/panda eyes or something under my eyes. But, this stays! Removal of this mascara is also very easy and doesn't require anything more than baby oil.

My lashes are noticeably darker and defined and makes my eyes pop. :) (Tip: On my upper lashes only, I use one coat from the root of the lashes to the tip from the bottom and then on the top to make sure my lashes are well-coated.)

Again, since this mascara is not made of harsh chemicals, I can wear this knowing it is good for my lashes and won't cause any irritation. It contains Tapioca starch for natural volume and organic beeswax, which works wonderfully. I can reapply the mascara without it looking too clumpy. The brush itself is 100% recyclable! Since mascaras are recommended to be used within 6 months of opening, I am determined to use this every day I leave the house AND find another one. I have checked several drugstores the past two weeks if they carry this mascara but sadly, they do not.

Product Review: Physicians Formula Organic wear® makeup

Physicians Formula Organic Wear line came out less than a year ago, but it has taken this long for me to write about it. I was first introduced to this product at a booth at Self's Workout in the Park. They were giving away full-sized product samples of their 100% Natural Origin Bronzer.



I found their packaging unique and eco-conscious; there wasn't anything like it in the market last Spring. Each compact is made of 93% less plastic than a traditional compact of that size. I like that the other side has a mirror and a brush even though the plastic protector is not entirely sturdy. (Can you imagine putting that inside your purse with everything else? It would break!)

I tried their bronzer and thought it was a bit too dark and streaky for me. But I still had faith in their other products, because I am a sucker for products that are natural and free of harsh chemicals, parabens and synthetic preservatives. These claims are made on each Physicians Formula box, so it's hard to miss their messaging to their consumers. I have accepted that when products are made with natural ingredients, they can not be compared to the ones that I have always used before.


So a couple of months ago, I picked up another Organic wear product- their 100% Natural Origin Eyeliner. Overall, I like it because it smudges pretty easily, and at the end of the day, it smudges onto my bottom water line. It just makes my eyes smokier :)

I also got their new product last month, the 2-in-1 Bronzer & Blush in Light Bronzer/Pink Rose color. The blush is very rosy and the bronzer color is lighter than the original bronzer that I have in Natural Glow Bronze Organics color. It's great that both shades together in a compact, for convenience-sake.

The product I am most excited about though is their 100% Natural Origin Mascara. I haven't tested it yet, but it is free to try. (Upcoming post about their freebie here!)

Overall, I am pleased with the Organic wear line and hope to try their eyeshadow shades soon (if they can only have it in stock at a nearby drugstore when I am there)
