Could your sunglasses be destroying your hairline?
This morning I had to switch my sunglasses twice because the frames kept snagging the hair behind my ears. I started freaking out because I immediately started thinking about this guy I know that has little to no hair behind his ears because of wearing sunglasses all the time.
I wear my sunglasses year-round but a lot more in the summer. So this is the time of year that I really start to notice any problems with my sunglasses. Sunglasses with frames similar to the ones below have a tendency to crack and peel over time. Some take longer than others before this starts to happen. I believe my problem started and worsened due to me leaving the shades in a hot car for hours at a time. Plastic melts.
To be on the safe side you may want to invest in a quality pair of sunglasses with frames similar to the ones below. Those frames are a lot smoother and typically made with a hard plastic substance that is less likely to crack and peel like the frames above.

How is your summer regimen looking this year?
The meteorological definition of summer states that it begins on June 1, however our traditional calendars indicate that June 21 is the first official day of Summer. Well, in my opinion it's been hot enough to be summer so I am going to move forward and start implementing my Summer hair care regimen now.
This is another example of giving your hair what it needs when it needs it. Schedules don't always work because your hair can have a mind of its own.
For the past few summers I have following this regimen:
Spring/Summer
Daily
Moisturize (ends of hair if they are exposed & feel dry)
Weekly
Pre-poo (oils)
Shampoo
Deep condition (moisturizing conditioner)
Protective styles M-F, hair out only on weekends
Moisturize and Seal when needed
Monthly
Deep condition with a protein conditioner
Daily
Moisturize (ends of hair if they are exposed & feel dry)
Weekly
Pre-poo (oils)
Shampoo
Deep condition (moisturizing conditioner)

It's been working great so I plan on continuing with this regimen. I am thinking about easing up on the shampoo. Not for any real reason - I am just curious about the Curly Girl Method and I want to see how my hair would respond to living without shampoo. I'll try to give it a shot for a month and return with feedback.

I love a product that wakes me up, cools me down, and keeps me refreshed. Evian facial spray is this product. I have the 1.7 oz sized bottle and it is perfect for traveling and easily fits in any size purse. I started using this product last summer at the beach. It instantly cooled me down while also making me feel awake and refreshed. I used it on myself and the luxe kids. They thought it was the coolest thing ever!
Evian facial spray contains the mineral properties of the original Evian water. It also has a neutral PH. It is great for all skin types and works best when it is used several times a day. I still use it in the Winter months. While it is cooling and refreshing it also moisturizes the skin. Sometimes I spray it over my make-up to create a soft dewey look. Creating a dewey look in the Winter months is a hard feat, but Evian facial spray make it easy.

Summer is coming to a close and that means tons of summer items on sale. One of my favorite items I have seen on sale this week are Havainas. I know you Divas know about Havainas...the Brazilian flip flops shoe line that is all the rage. Divas I tell you these flip flops are super cute, durable, and comfy. Plus they last. Once you buy a pair, you can pretty much guarantee you will have them for years. What is there not to like?
I have seen them in Ross and T.J. Maxx for less than half of the original price. They usually retail for about $24 and T.J. Maxx has them on sale for $10.99! Yep..$10 bucks! You can't beat that. Also if you love to shop online, 6pm.com, has them on sale for 9.99! Love it. So you can actually get two pairs of Havainas for the price of one. Who doesn't love a bargain?

How is your week going? I hope fantabulous! Be thankful and focus on one day at a time!
Those of us that live in the South and the East Coast have been experiencing an unbelievable heat wave. 100 plus degree weather is almost an everyday occurrence. So you can imagine the toll this heat and humidity is taking on our hair. Basically, I get up in the morning and style my hair, but by the time I hit the door and drop my kids off to camp, the pretty curls and style has deflated and my hair just looks like a drab mess.
Well I have found the secret weapon against humidity...Mizani's Humidity Resistant Mist. Divas I promise you this product is the business! I am wishing each and every one of you a FANTABULOUS day! My message today has to deal with compassion. Compassion means giving people grace and forgiveness despite the circumstances. Be compassionate!
So we have covered smoking shades and divalicious swimsuits. But you need shoes to complete your look! Here are a few styles that are "in" for Summer 2010.
Wedges
I love the look of wedges but I am afraid to wear them! I guess it has something to do with that nasty fall I took in college rocking suede wedged sandals! But I love to see them on other people. Plus today's style are sky high! Love the look! These Christian Louboutin Espadrille wedges are insane!

In my humble opinion, platforms never go out of style. They are super sexy, sky high, and surprisingly comfy. I love the bone color and buckles on these Micheal Kors Gansevoort Platforms.
Embellished and funky flats
I see these style sandals everyday! They are beautiful, comfy, and different. Steve Madden always have great sandals and they have tons of gorgeous flats to choose from.

Oversize Mirrored Aviators
These shades are a classic and "Carrie" from SATC2 just brought this Diva shade back into fashion. They scream Diva, Super Cool, and Mysterious!

Essie Summer Resort Collection
I have been on a complete nail polish kick lately. (Noticed my last two nail polish blog posts- OPI Shrek Forever After collection and L'Oreal's Passport to Paradise collection?)
When I was at the Ricky's, I also noticed the Essie Resort Collection tucked away in the back counter. It was virtually untouched because you couldn't go back there really without having to ask someone.

L'Oreal's Passport to Paradise
I went to my local drugstore this week and I immediately noticed L'Oreal's Passport to Paradise Summer Collection. I mostly recognized it because all the products were still there. (Don't you hate it when you see new a new collection but it's already been ransacked?) Well, I was gazing at the nail polishes and glanced over the unnecessary bronzer/lipcolors for me. They also had two eyeshadow quad sets, but the colours were nothing special to me. The combination of the blues/sea greens and gold were pretty though, but I already have them separately.
So back to the nail polishes.. there are three (from left to right): Water's Edge (the sea-green color), High Tide (light blue with grey sparkles) and Ocean Breeze (literally like a beautiful blue ocean). I went home that night to read reviews and see color swatches. I went back to the store the next day, and unfortunately the Water's Edge (the one I liked the most) was no longer available.
This limited edition is available at select drugstores near you. I think I'll be going back to pick up the rest of the colors.

N.Y.C. Nail Polish: Is it Worth Buying?

Well it is official. Summer is here! This is the time to get regular manis and pedis and experiment with nail color. Of course, bright colors are always hot in the summer. This is why I decided to try N.Y.C. Nail Colors. I was looking for a nice yellow to wear when I am relaxing and not working! They had a great yellow and a host of other bright and funky colors. So I gave it a try.
First, the price point is great! Who can beat nail polish at 99 cents? However, the formula is very thin. I had to apply 4 coats to achieve the yellow color in the bottle. Next, the polish constantly streaked while applying. Even after applying 4 coats and drying, I never achieved a smooth finish. Just streaks, streaks, streaks! Not good. The one thing I did like about this polish is that it drys very quickly. Now that was impressive. How does it compare to Wet n' Wild's nail polish? Wet n' Wild is crushing N.Y.C. I previously blogged about the fabulousness of Wet n' Wild's Nail Polish here. Plus Wet n' Wild is also 99 cents.
